MY NAME IS MIMI|Interactive Design

"My Name is Mimi" is inspired by a 1979 documentary called "The Secret Life of Plants." In this documentary, the director used visuals to illustrate that plants possess a unique and captivating life force similar to animals. In our project, we personify plants and imbue them with emotions. We focus on the mimosa pudica (sensitive plant) as an interactive installation study. When approached, the installation closes, and when one moves away, it opens, symbolizing the distance between humans and plants and expressing the subtle mood changes of plants.

The overall installation consists of three layers, emphasizing the contrast between artificial and natural elements. The first layer portrays emotional interaction between people and artificial plants. The second layer delves into the technological process. The third layer introduces natural elements, allowing real plants to be grown. Our aim is to foster interaction and dialogue between humans and plants through various interactive methods.
